In a effort to be less lazy I present the next 7 days of attempting to finish a single piece a day to get ready for the next semester of school.
This isn't going to be a totally blind effort~ The guidelines for each will be:
Must have some emotional content and tell a story.
The final piece must be appropriately formatted for 30"+ printing
References must absolutely be used at all stages.
The style needs to remain realistic.
At least half these pieces need to have a male subject. (Look at my gallery to see why.)
Sketches must be done traditionally (this is to avoid a personal trap in my process)
Do not rush. Period. If it does not get completely done the day it is started, that's okay, there will be more time, the important part is that things were done.
A organized method needs to be taken in development and creation of each piece;
Write the idea down->Thumbnails->Rough sketch-> Refined Sketch correcting for anatomy, perspective and other weirdness->Rough paint over for lighting and color choices->Final paint over and refine until satisfied or time runs out (I pass out at like 11pm PST so that gets to be the default..)
You guys can totally join me on this or something, be less lazy.
Anyway my first piece is called and themed "Repose for a Nuclear Age." The idea is that a woman is draped across an old rusted out nuke propped up on an mount made of skulls and other bone bits in a waterlogged city of some sort, Lots of boxy things that piss me off.
